With every year brings a new Oneplus event with the hope of taking eyes off from its competitors. With the highly anticipated OnePlus 8 series this isn’t any different, but in times like this, it has a different feel.

With just days away from being announced, I have gathered all the latest information you need to know about the OnePlus 8 series.

Rumours what rumours?

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro specs and rumours

It is no longer a rumour if it comes straight out of the horse’s mouth. One certain thing is that OnePlus do things differently. With confirmation from both their Co-founder and OnePlus twitter account, some of these rumours are spot correct.

Design

  • Colour options: Green, Ultramarine Blue and Glow
  • Punch-hole for the camera
  • Gorilla Glass 6 Display

According to the leaks, the OnePlus 8 is coming with style with the colours ranging from green, ultramarine blue and glow it is intent is clear; being the best-looking phone on the market.

We’ve seen a range of colours leaked, including a green option, ultramarine blue, and something called Glow, which looks like it’s inspired by the setting sun, but moving through yellow to purple might end up looking like a bruise – although we’ve seen several different versions of this “

The Oneplus 8 series is ditching the waterdrop notch and the pop-up camera which was on the OnePlus 7 series to a punch-hole design that keeps it in line with the current team of the year.

With a premium build the One Plus 8 series will revert to the vertical camera set up last seen on the Oneplus 7P Pro.

The phone will come with an alloy frame with a glass back while the front will have Gorilla Glass 6.

Screen

  • 8: 6.55-inch AMOLED, 2400 x 1080, 90Hz
  • 8 Pro: 6.78-inch AMOLED, 3140 x 1440, 120Hz
  • In-display fingerprint sensor

The new OnePlus series will have 120Hz and perhaps 90Hz making the 60Hz obsolete. With the 90hz and 120Hz on board, you will be able to take complete advantage of that lovely 6.78-inch AMOLED display. The OnePlus is continuing a tried and tested formula with the in-display fingerprint sensor, expect some minor upgrades.

Cameras

  • 48MP main camera on both phones
  • Front 16MP camera in punch hole

Both models will be sporting a 48-megapixel main camera with a difference in ultra-wide, telephoto and depth sensor.

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 confirmed
  • X55 modem for 5G
  • 8/12GB, 128/256GB storage
  • 4300/4510mAh battery, with wireless charging

The OnePlus 8 series should come with 8GBM RAM and 128 GB as standard, but there is a 128GB and 256GB for those heavy users. A 4300mAh battery will be inside the OnePlus 8 while the OnePlus 8 Pro will have a 4510mAh battery.

Charging on the OnePlus will be the quickest it has ever been with the confirmation of the Warp Charge 30 Wireless, which is 30W wireless charging. The phone will get to 50 per cent in 30 minutes, but you may need to buy the charging pad.

Final Thoughts

The OnePlus event is on the 14 April which should be available for live streaming here. It would be interesting to find out how much of this rumours are true and if there will be any surprises. Either way, it is bound to be an exciting time in the mobile world.
